Do you know the working principle of anti-skinning agent (methyl ethyl ketone oxime, butanone oxime)?

During the storage process of air-drying oxidative drying film-forming paint, due to the contact of the surface with air, after the solvent evaporates, oxidative polymerization will occur on the surface to form gel, which is usually called paint skinning. This film is insoluble and must be filtered out before the paint is applied.

In order to avoid this phenomenon, people usually use methyl ethyl ketone oxime (butanone oxime) anti-skinning agent to prevent the gel film formed by surface oxidative polymerization during the storage of the paint.

This type of product is usually used as an anti-skinning agent for oxidative drying paint, a viscosity stabilizer for oxidative drying adhesives, a blocking agent for isocyanate, and an organosilicon crosslinker.

In order to prevent paint skinning, it is related to the drying of the paint, that is, it is related to the oxidative polymerization process of the paint and the action of the drying agent. If the free radical polymerization of the paint film and the active action of the drying agent can be controlled, the anti-skinning effect can be achieved. However, this control must be based on needs and cannot affect the paint film drying rate or the performance and quality of the paint.
