1. Types of agrochemical products
Agrochemical products can be divided into liquid formulas and solid formulas:
1. The liquid formula includes emulsifiable concentrate (EC), oil suspension concentrate (OD, OF), and water suspension concentrate (SC);
2. Solid formula includes powder (D), wettable powder (WP), granule (GR), and water-dispersible granule (WG).
EC: Pesticide + organic solvent + surfactant. Dilute with water for use
OD: Pesticide + vegetable oil + emulsifier. Dilute with water for use
OF: pesticide + vegetable oil. Add oil and dilute for use
SC: Pesticide + water. Dilute with water for use
D: Pesticide + inert filler. Use directly
WP: pesticide + filler + surfactant + additive. Use diluted with water
GR: pesticide + auxiliary. Use directly
WG: pesticide + filler + surfactant + additive. Use diluted with water
Nowadays, most of the original drugs in my country are processed into two dosage forms: emulsifiable concentrate and wettable powder. The market share of more environmentally friendly and effective pharmaceuticals such as water suspensions and water-dispersible granules is also gradually increasing.
2. Functional mechanism of fumed silica
Fumed silica has a large specific surface area, strong adsorption performance, and is easy to suspend. It can absorb a large number of water molecules in water and expand into extremely fine particles to form a stable suspension. Therefore, it is particularly suitable as a carrier for pesticide wettable powders, granules, water-dispersible granules, and as a dispersant and thickener for suspension agents.
Fumed silica also has good affinity and chemical stability. It can remain unchanged for a long time even under rain, washing and hot conditions, thus ensuring the long-lasting effectiveness of pesticides.
