Current Status and Prospects of Amino Silicone Oil in the Textile Industry

Hits: 302 img

I. Current Status: Market Expansion Driven by Technology
Amino silicone oil, with its unique molecular structure (containing amino groups and silicon-oxygen bonds), has become a core auxiliary agent in textile finishing processes. As of 2025, the Chinese amino silicone oil market size exceeded 4.28 billion yuan, with an annual output of 185,000 tons, a year-on-year increase of 12.8%. Its applications cover softening finishing of cotton, chemical fibers, and blended fabrics, with a significant increase in the penetration rate of high-end products: in cotton/polyester blended fabrics, the market share of amino silicone oil jumped from 32% in 2019 to 61% in 2023, while the penetration rates in knitted fabrics and microfiber suede-like fabrics reached 75% and 82%, respectively.

In terms of technological iteration, the industry is transitioning from basic chemical synthesis to precise molecular design. For example, low-yellowing formulations, by optimizing ammonia value and molecular weight distribution, increase the number of washes per fabric by 30%; nanocomposite technology introduces hydrophobic silica, increasing the contact angle to over 150°, achieving a superhydrophobic effect. Furthermore, the proportion of environmentally friendly products is rapidly expanding. The market share of products with low VOC (volatile organic compounds) content is expected to increase from 12.6% in 2020 to 28.9% in 2025, and is projected to exceed 35% in 2026.

II. Future Outlook: Functionalization and Sustainability as Dual Drivers
In the next five years, amino silicone oil will exhibit two major trends in the textile industry:
Functional Upgrades: With the release of demand for outdoor and functional fabrics, the demand growth rates for composite functional products such as antistatic, UV protection, and antibacterial properties will reach 18.2%, 21.5%, and 24.8%, respectively. For example, intelligent responsive coating technology can achieve waterproof/breathable switching triggered by temperature or humidity, meeting the needs of high-end sportswear.
Green Transformation: Breakthroughs in bio-based amino silicone oil synthesis technology will reduce dependence on petroleum-based raw materials. Low-temperature curing processes can reduce energy consumption by more than 30%, meeting the requirements of the "dual carbon" strategy. Simultaneously, the accelerated development of biodegradable materials will drive the industry's transformation towards a circular economy model.
Market forecasts indicate that China's demand for amino silicone oil will reach 218,000 tons in 2026, with a market size exceeding 5.12 billion yuan, and is expected to reach 7.8-8.5 billion yuan by 2030. Enterprises need to focus on technological innovation and supply chain integration, enhancing supply chain resilience through customized formulations and on-site services to address the challenge of import dependence in the high-end market (currently still at 25%).
